Oshiomole declares interest for APC chairmanship

The former governor of Edo state Adams Oshiomole has declared his interest to contest for the office of the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

At a declaration ceremony held in Abuja, Thursday, the former governor said he would work to have a membership driven party grounded at the grassroots.

He said he will achieve this by having an authentic and viable membership register that is verifiable by both members and non-members of the party.

Oshiomole told the gathering that he will promote party supremacy and party unity on a sustainable basis based on discipline within its ranks and evoke sanctions where appropriate.

Declaring his intention he said he said he will invoke rules and policies that are useful for the party.

Governor Oshiomole also trailed performances of the incumbent chairman of the party, John Oyegun saying Oyegun led the party to victory in 2015.

On respect to the party’s constitution, Oshiomole vowed to remain loyal to the constitution of the party with the cooperation of the members and its officials, both at the executive and legislative arms of government.

He said  APC was founded on the principles of social democracy and inclusiveness and his administration will carry everybody along.

Chairman of the progressives governor forum, Rochas Okorocha pledged support of his members for the former governor hoping that the party would be better managed.

Oshiomole will contest alongside other aspirants in June 2018 when APC will hold its national convention.
