Makinde Pledges to Rebuild Razed Portion of Sasa Market
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has promised to rebuild a portion of the Sasa market under Akinyele Local Government Area of the state recently razed by fire.
Makinde who gave the assurance during an unscheduled visit to the scene of the fire incident pledged to donate N10 Million to help in rebuilding the market.
Correspondent Kunle Ojo reports that the Governor who was accompanied by the Caretaker Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon. Taoheed Adedigba, and the Caretaker Chairman of Akinyele South LCDA, Hon. Ahmed Kazeem Adekunle and the member representing Akinyele State Constituency, Hon. Kehinde Olatunde, among other top government functionaries, assured the shop owners and the residents of the area that the state will rebuild the affected shops.
He described the inferno as an unfortunate and heart-breaking incident, he also assured that the Oyo State Government would find ways to cushion the effects of the inferno on the inferno.
The governor later visited the Palace of Seriki Sasa, Sarkin Saba, Sardaunan Yamma, where he commended the Seriki for his support to the government.
Makinde in his address maintained that he will find lasting ways of settling the rancour among the traders in the market.
Responding, the Seriki Sasa appreciated the Governor for the assistance to re-build the burnt market.
He also appealed to the Governor to assist in maintaining peace among the traders in the market
